Due diligence

The term “Due diligence” refers to the investigation of a business or person prior to signing a contract with a certain standard of care. The term is commonly applied to voluntary investigations, and more particularly to the process through which a potential acquirer evaluates (directly, or in this case, through a third party) a target company or its assets for an acquisition.
